Susie Autry

People make the UNT System work… and we want you to meet them.

More than 50 System staff enable the components of the UNT System achieve their extraordinary accomplishments in education, research and health care. These employees also drive the visions for the future, such as the proposed UNT College of Law.

This “Spotlight on System Staff” feature highlights the people that make it all work. Every two weeks you’ll be introduced to a new staff member. Enjoy the current staff feature below, and then click on the link at the bottom of the interview to see previously profiled UNT staff members.

Administrative Services - Executive Administrative Assistant

What does my job title really mean:
That I provide administrative support to the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services — scheduler, meeting coordinator, meeting preparation, public relations, etc.  This office works primarily with campus master planning, new construction, and major renovation projects among other things for all components of the UNT System.

What is my education and some past achievements:

  • Denton High School 1976, attended UNT
  • Have 27+ years of service with UNT and the System combined
  • Assisted in the master planning process that led to adoption of master plans for all three System campuses
  • Participated in the process for planning and constructing the new UNT Dallas Campus.

What brought me to the UNT System:
I previously held the position of Assistant to the Chancellor for Special Events for Dr. Alfred Hurley (Chancellor/President Emeritus).  Upon inception of UNT System that position went from being a UNT position to a UNT System position.

What I like best about my job is:
The people I work with and others I meet because of my job.  There is always something interesting to do and be involved with.

If I ever leave work early, I can probably be found:
In our office we consider leaving early to be 5:00 PM and most often leaving then would be to join a group of friends for dinner or bunko night.

People would be surprised to know that I:
Can't think of anything that would be surprising.

The most interesting thing that I have learned since working
for the UNT System is:

The general progression of the System from its beginning to now.  Also, never having worked with construction of any kind it has been interesting to learn about everything related to that.
